You would hate to work at a restaurant. I always hated how we would throw away left over food. There needs to be a way where they donate that stuff to those in need while not violating company policy.

Food Network’s The Big Waste
So I’ve been MIA from everything, but I wanted to write about this because it just seemed important. Is anyone else watching The Big Waste on Food Network? Basically, Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, Anne Burrell and Alex Guarnaschelli have to make dishes out of food that is about to be thrown away for various reasons while illuminating just how much food goes to waste each day.
It’s crazy! Piles and piles of food are just thrown out because people don’t want to buy it and thus the vendors can’t sell it. I mean, we’ve all been part of this process. Whenever you go through fruits and vegetables for one that doesn’t have a bruise or scratch, those that are partially disfigured but still edible and have the same taste cooked get bypassed and eventually, stores just have to get rid of it.
I don’t know, it was just kind of mindblowing and I’m still not sure what to do with this info right now except write about it. But spreading that information does help, I guess. Makes you think twice when you go grocery shopping.
Anyway, it’s best to just watch the special if you can. It’s also on tomorrow, January 9 at 1 AM and January 14 at 4 PM. DVR it!
Okay, that’s it. But yeah, I don’t know, I just felt the urge to post about this, haha. Check it out if you can and come to your own conclusions about it.
